New Test: More Viruses Stopped When Firewall added to Antivirus

New Test: More Viruses Stopped When Firewall added to Antivirus

By the ZoneAlarm Team (USA)

We’ve got interesting new independent test results from av-test.org. The test looked at what happens when you add a ZoneAlarm Firewall to the most popular Free Antivirus program.

The independent AV-Test pitted 35 different types of new viruses against these three different configurations on Windows 7:

Free Antivirus alone

Free Antivirus + ZoneAlarm Free Firewall

Free Antivirus + ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall

As in real life, some of the viruses attacked through Web use and some through email. The test revealed that Free Antivirus alone did not provide full protection against 28% of the random sample of new viruses tested.

The good news is, as illustrated in the chart above, that when they added ZoneAlarm Firewalls to the Free Antivirus, things got better:

Free Antivirus with ZoneAlarm Free Firewall completely blocked 12% more new viruses than Antivirus alone.

Free Antivirus with ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall completely blocked 20% more new viruses than Antivirus alone.

So if you are using a Free Antivirus, add a good Firewall to your antivirus for better protection.
